Located about 50 minutes northwest of Baltimore City in beautiful Northwestern Carroll County, Taneytown is a small community founded in 1754 when approximately 7,900 acres were granted to Edward Diggs and Raphael Taney as a part of a Resurvey of Brothers Agreement. The community soon planned homesites and the first deeds were registered in 1762.


Today, Taneytown is home to around 7,200 people and serves as a great location for those looking to experience the quintessential 'small town' feel with great work opportunities and proximity to Baltimore, D.C., Western Maryland, Frederick, and Gettysburg, P.A.
