Glen Burnie Above $250,000
Located in Northern Anne Arundel County, Glen Burnie was founded when, in 1812, Elias Glenn established a county seat and named it 'Glennsburne.' The name was changed a couple more times as the property passed through Glenn's family. In 1854, Elias' grandson incorporated the Curtis Creek Mining, Furnace, and Manufacturing Company. The business flourished throughout the 19th century and the family added several thousand acres of land in northern Anne Arundel County. Glenburnie became an official state subdivision in 1888 and in 1930 it was the decision of the post master to split the name into two words instead of one, making it Glen Burnie.
Glen Bernie's Ritchie Highway serves as a main thoroughfare servicing the community with shopping, dining, and commercial amenities, as well as serving as a link into Annapolis from Baltimore, in addition to Rt. 97.
