Located between the Magothy and Severn Rivers, Arnold was settled as a farm when John Arnold, a War of 1812 veteran, acquired the 300 acres to the north of the Severn River.


Arnold is home to Anne Arundel Community College, one of the nation's top-rated community colleges, as well as Sandy Point State Park. The state park can be seen from the bay bridge and includes a beach on the Chesapeake Bay, wetlands, marshes, and creeks.
